Wine.com Solves #1 Wine Delivery Issue with Local Pickup Option

Never miss a wine delivery – customers now able to ship wine to more than 2,000 FedEx office locations nationwide

San Francisco, CA, September 21, 2014 – Wine.com, the nation’s leading online wine retailer, today announced its new service, Wine.com Local Pickup. In an effort to eliminate the inconvenience of the adult signature requirement on wine, Wine.com has dramatically simplified the wine shipping process, ensuring you never miss a wine delivery again.

Local Pickup offers the same convenience of Wine.com online shopping and date-specific delivery, with the added benefit of allowing customers to select one of over 2,000 FedEx office locations as their delivery address.  Since wine deliveries require signatures from an adult over 21, this added feature, the first of its kind, benefits customers who are unable to wait at home to sign for wine. Instead, they specify a date of delivery to their preferred FedEx office location. Customers then receive a call and e-mail when the wine arrives, and will have up to five days to retrieve. With a multitude of FedEx office locations offering evening and weekend hours, the new program only adds to the convenience of shopping with Wine.com.

“The days of the missed delivery note on your front door are over,” said Rich Bergsund, Wine.com CEO.  “With FedEx’s help, we’ve just opened up 2,000 stores so you can shop online and pick up at a FedEx office location, with no more missed deliveries. It’s the next big step in creating a seamless wine buying process from start to finish.”

Local Pickup is just the latest innovation to enhance the customer experience. The majority of Wine.com customers receive their wine within 1-2 days thanks to the company’s network of fulfillment centers. In addition, Wine.com offers customers the unique opportunity to select their delivery date. Now, with Local Pickup, customers will have even more control in the wine shipping process.
